The extra resistance due to one bulb circuit being broken causes the flasher to increase its rate. With all bulbs working, I tried swapping bulbs around, checking contacts between bulb and bulb holder, checking ground contacts all over the car chassis, and checking all of the circuits for excessive resistance with a multimeter.

I've just picked up my E46 M3 from having a load of work done on the bodywork in particular, so both bumpers and other external parts have all been removed at some point and the battery disconnected. Anyway, driving home yesterday I noticed several issues. The main one is that the SMG gear indicator is constantly flashing even The FIRST thing to do is determine that the high beam indicator works. or not. Pull the stalk towards the steering wheel to invoke your own Flash Mode, and the high beam light should come on. Then, (with the lights on) push the stalk towards the dash board, the high beam indicator should come on again. Might be a fault indicator light or connection on one of the doors. try to move the car around with one of the other doors (besides drivers) open and see if the indicator goes on.Hi mate, even if you dont have the idrive, you can set it up thru the BC switch in the indicator stalk. If you have the owners handbook then you can refer page 20 and 64 IIRC to see setting up the locking and unlocking of the car. There there is a icon which says flashing of the indicator lights for once when its locked and twice when unlocked.
